The Winner’s Creed

I can

If you think you are beaten, you are;

If you thnk you dare not, you don’t;

If you like to win, but think you can’t

It’s almost a cinch you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you are lost;

For out in the world we find

Success begins with a person’s faith;

It’s all a state of mind.

Life’s battles don’t always go to

The Stronger or the Faster hand;

They go to the One who trusts in God

And Always Thinks

“I CAN”

~ Author Unknown

As Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or think you can not…you are right.”  It’s all a state of mind.

questionsThink about this for a minute…or two…or a lifetime of minutes.  And ponder these questions:

  What goes on inside your thought process the moment an obstacle appears?

  What doesn’t happen in your life because you think you can’t because you don’t have time, or you spouse won’t let you, or your friends will think you’ve sprouted three heads?

  What’s stopping you from acheiving your dreams? Your passions?  Your life purpose?

  What would happen if all your excuses suddenly disappeared?

  What would you do if the path to your life’s dreams, passions, and purpose was cleared of all road blocks?  Who would you become?

  Who are you and what do you really want?

  Are you a winner or are you content inside your discontent?

  1. I’ve always loved that quote by Henry Ford. This dovetails nicely with Joy Discovered’s post on advice to the graduate (which I saw you commented on!). I used to be much more timid about what was possible for me in this life… Slowly, as I’ve stuck my head out of the turtle shell, the Universe has shown me that if I can dream it or believe it, I can have it.

    What an inspiring post… and a great day for wise words!

    • Megan,

      I love the Winner’s Creed poem – it’s on the back of all the cards I receive from my martial arts studio – it’s a constant reminder that

      Yes, I can be a black belt.

      Yes, I can be a wildly successful writer.

      Yes, I can be the creator of an integrative yoga program for breast cancer survivors and co-survivors.

      Yes, I can be the best me I can possibly be.

      Yes, I can help others help themselves.

      Yes…I can :-)

  2. Hi Peggy, Great post! That quote from Henry Ford is one of my most favorites. Your questions that follow are good ones, very thought provoking. I like the one, “What would happen if all your excuses suddenly disappeared?” Isn’t that fun to imagine!? Like Megan wrote above, if we can dream it or believe it, we can have it! It’s up to us!

    • Jodi,

      My coach asked me what my major obstacle was. I told her it was ME. It’s always me. I have no excuses. I removed them all. So all that is left is just me. I am my worst and only obstacle ;-)

  3. “…. are you content inside your discontent?”

    What a great question! I have tried to ask the essence of this so many times – this sums it up.

    We should NEVER be content in our discontent.

    Thanks!
