Quote of the Day

OneMoreThingToWorryAbout-

“What were you worried about this time last year? Can’t remember?”

Author Unknown, from Ten Ways to Worry Less and Accomplish More

(Thank you Cori for posting this quote on Facebook!)

This time last year…what was I worried about?  I have no idea!

What about you?  Can you remember what you were worried about a year ago?

Are you worried about something right now?  Is it within your control to affect the outcome?

If it’s not, I invite you to worry about whatever it is for the next five minutes.  Do nothing but worry for 300 seconds.  Then stop.  Yup…just stop.  (For a milisecond, I worried if my math was correct…it is…I double checked.  Worry over.)

Can you think of one stress free reason to continue to worry about whatever it is you’re worried about?

  1. Great post Peggy!

I am a firm believer that worry is an enormous waste of time and energy. I made a conscious decision over 10 years ago to stop worrying and it worked. Now, if I am faced with a problem or set of circumstances that could cause me worry I instead put my energy into finding a creative solution to the problem. This usually creates a situation where I can step back and see the good in what is happening as well as find the way out and up from what could have brought me down. And in the moments when there is no solution I always believe in my heart that everything will be just fine…and it always is.

    • Thanks Maureen! I also let go of worrying over things I can’t control. Even things I can control, I look for where my opportunity is or at the very least, the lesson I’m supposed to learn!

  2. I used that question in a telecourse I was leading on Monday! (Serendipity?)

Then I ran across this question:
If what you’re doing right now won’t matter a year from now, why are you doing it?

    I like that question.
    A lot.

    All the best!

    • Deb!

Serendipity indeed! I have goosebumps because I just checked out your blog and low and behold, we both used the same Marianne Williams quote :-)

And I LOVE the way you reframed the question…perfect!

      xxoo
