A Day With Olivia

I had one of those perfect days on Tuesday.  That kind of day you want to freeze time in, capture and hold forever, duplicate again and again because you just can’t get enough.

I played hookie from work (or you could say I worked from home) – really, I do have other things to work on – like my book – but I digress…

Around noon The New Mommy texted me “are you home?”

“Sure am,” I replied.

“Mind if we visit?” she texted back (and she texts much faster than me!)

“Not at all! =) =) =)” I slowly texted back.

The New Mommy lives all of 10 minutes away and she just couldn’t get to my house fast enough…already I could feel my hands hunger to hold Olivia…

It’s so much worse than a natural reflex.  My fingers automatically flex “Gimme the baby!” I feel GREEDY.  And sometimes having to wait my turn is excuriciating…(Let me hold her already!) She’s captured my heart and placed me under her magic spell.  Those eyes!  Those cheeks!  She’s snuggly soft and makes the silliest cooing sounds!  And let’s talk about her hair…have you ever seen so much?  Pretty soon I’ll be taking her to the salon with me…

Who would have thought being a Grand Mother could be so amazing?  Did either one of my grandmothers feel this way about me when I was born?  What exactly is it about grand babies?

And just think…Richard and I have FOUR girls…and this is just the beginning of grand babies…there will be more!  I need to ask my mom if she felt this way with each of her FOURTEEN grand children…Mom?

For an hour and a half, The New Mommy and I camped out in my living room…with Olivia sound asleep on my chest.

I’m pretty sure this must be heaven…

  1. Hi Peggy, I could read about you and your grandbaby all day! Your joy is so evident! I am glad you had that precious afternoon with her! Wonderful pictures!

  2. Oh my gosh, she is BEAUTIFUL! Her energy is permeating… Peggy, she might be one of those special lightworker children sent here to help more people awaken. My goodness, and you’re right about that hair! I think I feel my own grabby hands automatically forming, and I’m not even a mother (let alone an esteemed grandmother!).

Thank you for this — what a gift! Your Tuesday has now become my Friday. How wonderful!

    • My mom and older sister have both told me how amazing being a grandma is – it was really tough to understand until I got here myself :-)
