I’m celebrating today and I hope you’ll join me! Why am I celebrating? Because I passed my promotion test in Thai Kickboxing! I am now a Recommended Black Belt! No resting here, though…I have ten months and ten testing periods before my next promotion: First Degree Black Belt.
But for right now, I’m just a little impressed with myself. I did it. I set my sights on something I’ve wanted for a long time. I did the work. I showed up for classes even when I didn’t think I had it in me to throw a punch or push kick dust bunnies.
This morning I’m tired. I have knots in my shoulders and my arms (after 60 pushups) are protesting loudly. But I feel darn near awesome!
Now…who want’s cake?

Congratulations Peggy!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!
I would love some cake and you have to tell us more about Thai kickboxing. Sounds fascinating.
Thanks Nadia!
I’ll put Thai Kickboxing down as a furture blog post…when I found it, I knew I found the martial arts I was looking for. Twelve years ago I left Tae Kwon Do as a brown belt (I got knocked out in class for the second time and I was all set with that) so getting my recommended black belt on Thursday was HUGE for me.
Thai kickboxing rocks. It’s boxing and muoy thai combined. It’s the best workout for me because I love doing it – even when I don’t feel like doing it! It’s also a fabulous compliment to my yoga practice.
Hi Peggy,
I have some catching up to do!! Congratulations on your MAJOR, HUGE Accomplishment!! I am so happy for you. This is definitely cause for celebration!! Congratulations and best of luck to you in the coming months (do you know a good masseuse!?)! xoxo!
Hi Jodi!
Not only do I know a good masseuse, but she makes HOUSE CALLS!
