The WOW Of The Universe

My nose has been stuck in a new book, Scarred By Struggle, Transformed By Hope by Joan D. Chittister.  I even had the presence of mind to take it to the airport with me just in case I’d be waiting for my daughter’s flight to land.  And if you read my previous post, you know I was waiting.  As my daughter and I sat next to each, not knowing if we’d see her fiance come through the International “fence” at Logan, I read this:

“Everything in life is simply another step, not the final step, in the process of becoming something else.”

irishweddingMy daughter’s wedding is becoming something else.  Something better than what was originally planned.  Staying open to all the possibilities helps the Universe create a better plan.  But let me back up for a second because the Universe has actually been working on my daughter’s original request.

Last December she was in Dublin meeting her fiance’s family.  She instant messaged me via Facebook and when I saw the message (long after she logged off) it said, “Mom, how would you feel about a wedding in Ireland?”  She claims she was slightly tipsy when she sent it.  But she sent it not just to me, but into cyber space and the ether.  I think the Universe was paying attention and has been working it out since then.

A wedding in Ireland is the new plan.  Instead of the spring, it will mostly likely be in February because they both have jobs to return to in Lagos, Portugal in March.

What I’m excited about today is learning how easy it is to cancel plans, adjust fire, and aim in a new direction. Each step is a step towards something new.  Noel’s parents and one of his brothers are still flying across the pond next week.  His mom and I had a good laugh over the phone.  She has to leave Noel at home by himself.  We’ll connect with Noel via Skype and maybe even get a cake with only the bride on top…and make it the non-wedding party.

The beauty of all this is that next Friday, my daughter has an appointment at David’s Bridal and Noel’s mom will be able to take part in one of the best parts of a wedding – shopping for the bride’s dress!

Looking back, connecting the dots, and realizing that this had to happen for something better to happen…it’s the WOW of the Universe!

  1. Peggy, your attitude and faith and willingness to roll with the punches, accompanied by the shared feelings of your daughter, FSIL and his mother is moving beyond words. I am so uplifted and inspired to stop worrying, to trust the universe, and to keep moving forward no matter the circumstances. Thank you so much for sharing your light and happiness with your readers.

    • Hi Daphne!

Instead of worrying, both my daughter and I (after she shed some tears) went into “where’s the opportunity” mode. I think worrying would have robbed us of the ability to see all the possibilities.

And the plans that once were are SO much better now!

      xxoo
      Peggy

  2. WOW says it all. I love this perspective, it’s like you can open your eyes to colors you’ve never seen before. Who knows what new color you will see because you are open to the wonderfulness that works in your favor. So much brighter and better than ever imagined. What a blessing! Enjoy each “step”.

  3. This is a magnificent example of the Universe at work – AND you not fighting it but allowing everything to unfold as it should, not manipulating what YOU want, not whining and complaining……..Oh Peg, you are THE POSTER CHILD for how we should ALL handle things, or not handle them as the case may be! I am in complete and utter awe of all this – it is just fantastic! I think awe is really something preferred to be in, don’t you? We COULD potentially all be in awe all the time, instead of chaos, if we would just relax and let the Universe do the work a lot of the time.

  4. Hi Angelia – It is WOW! And you can bet I’m going to enjoy each step! Thank you so much for stopping by over the weekend…you’re presence here is so uplifting!

Hi SuZen! I can’t imagine what the me 10 years ago would have done. Rest assured, there would have been a lot of gnashing of teeth! In yoga they teach us to learn the path between effort and ease…I think this was my first big test ;-)

I love being in WOW and in AWE :-) Thank you SuZen…you have brightened my day!
