Your Moment of Bliss

Yoga is a way for us to get back to the happy feeling of touching our toes…the way babies do when they discover they can lift their legs up and then grab their toes and hold onto them.

DSC01893Olivia practicing her first yoga pose…Happy Baby in Happy Baby!

Happy Baby or Ananda Balasana is a great hip opener.  It brings so much awareness to an area that tightens up from every day living.  This pose releases your lower back and it’s great to relax your spine.  Happy baby calms your brain and greatly helps to relieve stress and fatigue.  For me, this is one of my favorite “bliss” poses.  Ananda Balsana is yummy and I usually do this at the end of my practice, right before I go into Shavasana!

Enjoy today because Now is all you have!

  • Hi Peggy,

This is one of my favorite yoga poses and I also love the name of this pose. Who wouldn’t want to be a Happy Baby? ;)

  • Hi Peggy!
Awww, that picture is too adorable! Wish I could look as precious doing that pose – haha – but I will try closing my eyes when I do and visualizing that little angel! Thanks for this wonderful Happy Baby encouragement! (Don’t ya wonder if God isn’t wondering why the heck we aren’t ALL Happy Babies?)
    Hugs
    Suzen

  • I love it when babies discover their toes. I love that pose as well and rolling around on my back. Ahhhhhh!
    Thanks for the bliss Peggy!

  • Hi Nadia! Who wouldn’t want to be a Happy Baby…EXACTLY!!

Hi SuZen! I wish I looked that precious, too…but not too worry, because when we’re on the mat, it’s just you and your mat…no one’s watching…we’re all beautiful in Happy Baby!!

Hi Angelia! Happy Baby is one of the best self-massages we can give our lower back…especially after Thai Kickboxing!! ;-)

  • Hi Peggy, I’m new around here…
Happy Baby is one of my absolute favorites in yoga class. In fact, it’s one of the few poses I practice even when not in yoga class. I just think it’s the perfect way to loosen up! I have yet to find a way to suggest it diplomatically to folks who have an uptight-ness about them…:-)

  • Just looking at Olivia’s picture relaxes me in many ways. Forget happy baby pose — I want a kid to hold! (smile)
Thanks for this awesome reminder! I’ve been doing more yoga lately and always think of you, Peggy!

    • Hi Megan!

I’m glad you are doing more yoga…it does a body, mind and spirit good ;-)

Olivia is irresistible…my hands just gravitate towards her as soon as mommy brings her over!

  • Peggy,
You just made me smile. I’m going to try the pose. You rock!

  • I love this, Peggy! And actually showing the picture of your grand baby doing it is wonderful! It makes me reflect back on the day both of my sons found their feet–what a happy, happy moment! I am definitely going to try this as a post exericise stretch! Thank you! Blessings to you today!

  • I think it is time that I rediscover my toes as well in that way.
With Pilates I have finally been able to touch my toes but not in this position. They look gorgeous, baby and toes.
