My First Artist’s Date

Once upon a time, I wanted to be an astronaut.  To go where no one has gone before. Instead, I found myself writing about rockets, ICBM’s, and “America’s Reaction To Sputnik” for my senior thesis as a History major.

Saturday, I took myself to the Planetarium in Concord, NH. Richard, Junior and my nephew Jacob came, too. Inside the dome, we watched “Tonight’s Sky” and “Two Pieces of Glass.”  Once again, I traveled inside the Orion Nebula and I learned the difference between a refracting and reflecting telescope. I spent the rest of my time taking pictures of pictures. And dreaming.

A Clear View Into Space

What did you want to be when you were little?

  1. Hi Peggy! What did I want to be when I was little? I had a list – just like now! haha! Archeologist, Actress, Dancer, Teacher………on and on. I’ve really done, to one degree or another, most of it – the archeologist transformed into an ancient history nut.

It’s so cool you wanted to be an astronaut! That was one of the few areas I was fascinated by but never put on my list. I never did fly well, haha!

    • SuZen,

I STILL want to be an archeaologist :-) I’ll never forget the first time I was in Pompeii, and I thought, “give me a water pik, a wide brim hat, sunblock and I’m good to go.”

As I work my way through my morning pages and my artist’s dates, it still surprises me that I took my love for the final frontier and turned myself into a historian with it. (The simple fact that astronauts have to learn how to SCUBA dive and work under water before they go into space keeps me out of the competition!)

  2. Flight attendent. I always wanted to be in travel. Discovered at 18 travel agent was much better!! Nowadays It might be reverse lol. I can’t imagine how cool that was to visit. I’ve never been to one. Hope your vacation is much bliss!!

  3. Funny that, I have no idea what I wanted to do when I was young.
But I know now, designer of women friendly sailing boats, product designer, tester of products as I love analyzing the working of designs, mechanical engineer, farmer.
